Clinical Nurse Specialist or Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist - Acute Hospital Liaison Nurse
Join Horizons Cork as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist - Acute Hospital Liaison Nurse.
This role focuses on supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in accessing and receiving safe, quality care within acute hospital settings. The nurse will provide expert advice, support educational initiatives, and work collaboratively with both Horizons and hospital staff to improve patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the implementation of integrated care models between Horizons and acute services.
* Provide safe and high-quality healthcare to people with intellectual disabilities.
* Support adults with intellectual disabilities and their families during hospital visits.
* Offer expert advice on the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
* Participate in local educational programs and multidisciplinary team collaborations to enhance service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
1. Registered nurse/midwife with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or eligible for registration.
2. Registration in the relevant division(s) of the NMBI register or eligible for such registration.
3. For CNS: Minimum of 5 years' post-registration full-time experience, including experience in intellectual disability care.
4. For cCNS: Minimum of 1 year’s post-registration experience, including in intellectual disability care.
5. At least 2 years’ experience supporting individuals with care in acute services, or support to attain this experience.
6. Post-registration qualification at QQI NFQ Level 9 or higher relevant to the role, or evidence of equivalent credits.
7. Demonstrated continuing professional development relevant to the role.
8. Ability to practice safely and within scope of practice.
Additional Requirements
* Full, clean driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
* Good character and health suitable for the role.
* Maintain annual registration with NMBI and confirm registration annually.
