An Saol Foundation
, a Section 39 registered charity, is seeking a professional to join our pioneering neurological rehabilitation and habilitation centre. Our Centre is Ireland's first of its kind, offering long-term rehabilitation and habilitation for individuals with severe Acquired Brain Injuries (sABI).
Purpose of Role
To create and deliver
educational and engagement programmes
that support the rehabilitation and personal development of adults with severe Acquired Brain Injury (sABI), working in close partnership with therapists and families.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop
individualised learning activities
(literacy, numeracy, digital skills, creative arts, social communication, memory, cognition).
· Adapt teaching methods to very different cognitive and physical abilities, including profound needs.
· Use structured routines, visual aids, and augmentative communication methods to promote engagement.
· Support implementation of therapy goals (e.g. memory aids, communication strategies) through educational activities.
· Encourage participation in group sessions and foster social interaction.
· Collaborate with therapists, assistants, and families in daily programmes.
· Contribute to progress reports and documentation for clients and funders (HSE).
· Support the development of the An Saol Foundation
Requirements
· Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. B.Ed., Postgraduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs).
· Experience in special needs education, ideally with young adults or adults with complex needs.
· Creativity and flexibility in adapting teaching strategies.
· Strong commitment to inclusion and person-centred practice.
Desirable
· Experience working with people with acquired brain injury or physical disabilities.
· Knowledge of assistive technology, AAC (augmentative & alternative communication), and inclusive education tools.
· Familiarity with multidisciplinary teamwork.
Salary / Rate
Based on experience and qualifications. Benchmark: €40–50k annually.
