Role Overview
PURPOSE OF JOB
The Head of Private Credit is responsible for developing JTC Group's Institutional Client Services' ("ICS") private credit strategy, supporting jurisdictional and service line heads to drive revenue growth by evolving our go to market strategy and underlying operating model for both new and existing clients.
The role will help position JTC as a leading name in relation to the provision of a wide range of current and growing services to private credit managers. With an initial focus on Europe and the US, the Head of Private Credit will drive our global strategy to maximise opportunities and relationships across the private credit landscape.
An important aspect of the role will be to support the development of a cadre of private credit SMEs across ICS, including driving training and a culture of learning, particularly within those jurisdictions with responsibility for service delivery and revenue growth. Working closely with various leaders across the ICS business, the Head of Private Credit will ensure regulatory compliance, strong collaboration and knowledge sharing across functions, along with a mindset of continuous improvement.
Strategy And Leadership
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
* Strategically develop, implement and manage a suite of fund and loan administration services to private credit managers predominantly focusing on Europe and the US, but with an eye to other markets, either where JTC has an existing presence or where there are strong growth opportunities within the private credit space.
* Lead the Private Credit Working Group, represent private credit as an asset class on the ICS Funds ExCo and attend other relevant committees and meetings as necessary.
* Develop appropriate fee/cost models and competitive pricing to increase market share across the asset class.
* Set internal revenue targets and budgets for the private credit asset class and monitor performance against agreed margins.
* Keep abreast of market developments and competitor activity in the private credit sector and disseminate relevant information internally.
* Represent JTC as the face of private credit, providing ambassadorial support to existing client relationships to help with cross-sell, brand recognition, service and product enhancement.
Operating Model
* Develop, implement and manage the delivery of JTC's private credit fund and loan administration services.
* Manage existing technology vendors, including contract and fee negotiation.
* Keep abreast of new technology and maintain strong relationships with technology and other third-party service providers to private credit managers e.g. banks.
* Work closely with ICS Operations to continually evolve the operating model to ensure efficiencies and economies of scale as the asset class grows.
* Ensure the private credit asset class is appropriately represented within the development of existing and future IT and operational projects.
* Support the recruitment and training of private credit SMEs, driving a culture of learning and continuous development.
* Feed into and collaborate with the Operations team to optimise client onboarding processes where relevant.
Brand Enhancement
* Working closely with the BD team and Sales, develop a suite of high-quality collateral for the private credit asset class, including web content.
* Support and engage in outreach to targets and intermediary firms to generate leads.
* Secure and participate in opportunities to enhance JTC's visibility and reputation e.g. public speaking, articles and LinkedIn posts.
* Identify areas of market opportunity to expand service offerings.
Sales Support
* Support the sales teams to develop an understanding of the private credit market in order to identify opportunities and grow pipeline.
* Develop an appropriate pricing model and provide support on the negotiation of contract terms and pricing to help close deals.
* Support the ICS Intermediary Programme, developing and introducing relationships with relevant intermediaries to expand JTC's network across private credit.
* Support proposal development, responses, and crafting tailored solutions according to bespoke client requirements – with the support of Marketing and Sales leads.
Group-wide Support
* Engage with relevant group functions to support initiatives and programmes as they may be tailored to the private credit universe, eg Commercial Office, Banking and Treasury, JTC Tax, JTC Law.
* Collaborate with the Group Development function to identify M&A opportunities.
* Identify potential strategic partnerships to complement JTC's PC strategy.
Essential Requirements
* The ideal candidate will have extensive experience, typically 10-15 years, working within private credit.
* Essential competencies include deep technical expertise in private credit instruments, fund structures, waterfall models, and fee calculations.
* Relevant knowledge of private credit platforms and systems, including fund accounting and loan administration software.
* Track record of strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support the professional development of junior staff.
* Commercial acumen, influence and negotiating skills.
