Overview SIG Sports is focused on geo‑political and sports trading and analytics. Due to our continued growth, we seek a candidate with an understanding and interest in sports analytics to join our Quantitative Research team. Quantitative Researchers work to better understand markets and to identify, develop and improve trading strategies.
What You’ll Be Part Of
This role sits at the intersection of trading, research, and development, offering exposure to each. You will have access to the most comprehensive sports statistics and trading data, and you’ll use your mathematical and analytical skills to design, test, and refine data‑driven models and strategies. This position will likely require intermittent international travel.
Tasks Will Include
* Understanding, refining, and maintaining our current exchange‑trading strategies
* Collaborate with traders, quants, and developers to improve our mathematical models and software
* Trading sports events occasionally to enhance understanding of market dynamics
* Build and calibrate probabilistic models for sports outcomes
* Analyze past trades and historical data in a constant search for improvement
* Design, test, and evaluate new model ideas through simulation and backtesting frameworks
* Develop tools useful for trading
* Present findings and recommendations to traders and stakeholders in a clear and data‑driven manner
What We're Looking For
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with research experience in a numerate or technical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, etc.
* Exceptional quantitative, statistical, and probabilistic reasoning skills.
* Very strong attention to detail.
* Interest in sports data/analytics with an understanding of some subset of NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, Soccer, or Tennis.
* Knowledge of data mining and modelling.
* Strong programming ability (Python, C#, or both); experience with libraries such as Pandas and NumPy a plus.
* Ability to excel in a fast‑paced environment.
* Strong interpersonal and English communication skills.
* Attentiveness and ability to react to changing priorities while managing multiple tasks is essential.
* Knowledge of the betting or prediction markets is a plus.
