Overview
Atkins Réalis is one of the world's leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland.
We are seeking a self‑motivated, proactive and driven Principal Environmental Scientist with excellent communication skills to join our Environment team.
You will work alongside engineers, environmental scientists and other staff on our portfolio of infrastructure projects in Ireland that includes some of the most exciting and pivotal projects in the water, energy and transport sectors, as well as on specialist environmental projects.
Your role
Lead the development and delivery of complex projects/programs on accelerated delivery timelines.
Work closely with project managers, internal/external design teams, planners and clients to schedule and monitor work programmes, mitigate risk to delivery and plan internal resources accordingly.
Organise, manage and deliver large/strategic environmental projects, including EIARs and non‑statutory environmental reports.
Motivate, mentor and provide guidance to staff on the environmental team.
Show excellent project management skills, including technical delivery, financial management, client liaison and programme delivery on complex and/or multi‑disciplinary projects.
Combine excellent organisational, technical, numerical and communication skills to demonstrate logical thinking and concise reporting.
Manage a wide variety of projects (transport, energy, etc.) ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to high technical standards.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, regulators, sub‑contractors and other internal disciplines.
Prepare proposals and input into bids for multi‑disciplinary infrastructure projects.
Manage project teams, working with the local and wider Atkins Réalis teams across Ireland and the UK.
Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with sub‑consultants.
About You
Degree qualified in a relevant science or environmental engineering subject (e.g.
environmental science, sustainability, air and climate, noise, geology, hydrogeology, etc.).
Masters qualified in a relevant specialism preferred, but not essential.
Relevant postgraduate experience within a consultancy environment, specifically in the preparation and coordination of EIAR and non‑statutory environmental reports.
Chartered membership of a relevant professional body.
Demonstrable experience working on different types of projects (transport, energy, etc.).
Excellent working knowledge and demonstrable understanding of relevant planning and environmental legislation, technical guidance and industry standards/best practice, particularly in relation to the preparation of EIARs.
Proven track record in technical report writing and ability to complete technical reports to required best practice standards.
Proven track record in project management of major environmental projects and development of bids.
Experience of providing technical support and mentoring as part of a team.
