Role Overview
The Fire Safety Engineer will be responsible delivering fire safety engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects, including healthcare, education, commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement fire safety strategies from concept through to completion.
Prepare and submit Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) applications in line with Irish building regulations.
Support or lead on Disability Access Certificate (DAC) applications, with training provided if required.
Conduct fire risk assessments, audits, and inspections of new and existing buildings.
Collaborate with design teams, contractors, and clients to ensure compliance with fire safety standards.
Review and approve fire safety designs, drawings, and material submittals.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Undertake site inspections and reporting under BC(A)R 2014.
Liaise with statutory authorities and stakeholders as required.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Fire Safety Engineering or an equivalent related discipline (Level 8); MSc preferred.
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in fire engineering within the Irish construction industry.
Strong knowledge of Irish fire safety legislation, codes, and standards.
Experience in Disability Access Certificate (DAC) applications, or willingness to upskill.
Proficiency in fire modelling and risk assessment tools is an advantage.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Full driving licence and access to own transport.
Professional Membership status or working towards it (Engineers Ireland).
Strong initiative, problem-solving ability, and commitment to high-quality project delivery.
Experience working on large-scale or complex projects.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
