Job Description
We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Avery Dennison Medical, Longford reporting to the Plant Manager.
As the EH&S Specialist, your key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
* Implementing programs and developing facility specific procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory and Company requirements.
* Integration of Company and facility level EHS management systems to maintain compliance, environmental protection and safe operating conditions.
* Tracking and regularly reporting the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives.
* Use a structured processes score card to measure and communicate Safety/Environmental performance with both leading results and indicators.
* Maintaining all relevant logs, and all other governmental and corporate database records.
* Coordinating and controlling an effective accident prevention program.
* Implementing education and training to support regulatory and business requirements.
* Function as the contractor-plant representative to ensure compliance of all Process Safety Management (PSM) related requirements from contractors.
* Acting as a resource and coach to facility safety teams.
* Investigating all releases, injuries and near-misses.
* Conducting periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety and sanitary standards and regulations.
* Driving continuous improvement and delivering strong results from behavioral based processes.
Qualifications
* Min. of 5 years experience in EHS
* Demonstrated experience of sophisticated work assignment or educational project getting results on EHS work assignments with progressive complexity, depth and scope.
* Advanced professional EHS certification preferred but not required. Experience with behavioral based safety initiatives preferred.
* Good knowledge of regulatory requirements and EHS policies, procedures and programs.
* Good Project/Problem Resolution skills.
* Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and function specific software.
* Think strategically and have strong leadership skills with good interpersonal communications.
* Strong coaching, facilitating and training skills with the flexibility to support a 24 hour, 5 day manufacturing schedule.
