The National Bioinformatics Director is responsible for leading the implementation of the national strategy for accelerating genetic and genomic medicine in Ireland.
This involves working with key stakeholders to ensure successful execution of the plan, which focuses on several strategic objectives:
* Coordinating a national approach to genetics and genomics
* Ensuring patient and public involvement and partnerships
* Building the genetics and genomics workforce for the future
* Enhancing genetics and genomics clinical services
* Strengthening infrastructure to drive advances in genetics and genomics
The Director will provide leadership and expertise in bioinformatics, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and service delivery partners.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing strategic leadership in genetic and genomic bioinformatics services, including national projects
* Managing significant change programs within complex organizations
* Publishing work in peer-reviewed publications
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Genomics, and at least 7 years of post-qualification full-time experience in laboratory/clinical bioinformatics. Additionally, they should have at least 5 years of senior management experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory or clinical bioinformatics.
