An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Grid Engineer to join the Renewable Energy sector in a key role based in Co. Kildare. This position offers the chance to lead the delivery of major grid connection projects for renewable energy developments across Ireland, playing a vital part in the transition to a low-carbon energy future. Key Responsibilities: Deliver professional, cost-effective electrical engineering services across renewable energy projects. Lead projects related to grid connections, managing interactions with System Operators, contractors, and stakeholders. Oversee the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of grid infrastructure. Conduct technical analysis on power flows, network capacity, constraints, and curtailment to ensure commercially viable grid solutions. Ensure compliance with all Grid Code requirements and remain up to date with changes in regulation and system operator policies. Manage technical projects throughout their lifecycle, including tender preparation, contract management, and budget control. Facilitate energisation and grid code compliance testing for renewable energy projects. Identify and manage project risks and opportunities to support successful delivery. Ensure health, safety, and environmental regulations are integrated throughout all project phases. Actively participate in industry working groups and forums, contributing insights that shape renewable energy project delivery. Ideal Candidate Profile: Education: Honours Degree (Level 8 or higher) in Electrical Engineering (essential); a relevant Level 9 Postgraduate qualification is advantageous. Experience: 10+ years in the energy industry, with a minimum of 5 years focused on 110 kV+ transmission grid connections in Ireland. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HV electrical design, including substations, underground cables, and overhead line infrastructure. Renewable Sector Experience: Direct involvement in delivering transmission-scale connections for solar and/or wind energy projects. Project Management: Strong background in managing complex technical and construction processes with System Operators. Design Review & Oversight: Skilled in verifying third-party designs and overseeing engineering consultants and contractors. Communication: Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across multiple teams. Software Proficiency: Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical design software such as EPLAN, PSS/e, and DIgSILENT is beneficial.
