Responsibilities
* Take ownership for educating themselves about each service user within the service and how their disability affects them.
* Report, record, and carry out assessments.
* Be accountable for supporting the day-to-day running of the service and responsible for the execution and delivery of a person-centred approach.
* Be accountable for organising, planning, and executing training and development of the staff team through goal setting in supervision or other communication methods.
* The Social Care Leader will be responsible for leading the team in the absence of management.
* Be responsible for chairing meetings, setting agendas, and ensuring actions are followed up.
* Support staff members in relation to taking ownership of their workload, engaging in supervisions, and participating in meetings both within and outside the service.
* The Social Care Leader may be required to work shift work, weekends, and/or night duties.
* The Social Care Leader will be required to be part of the on-call management rota.
* Responsible for building and maintaining professional rapport and communicating with MDT, families, and other personnel as required.
* Adhere to GDPR legislation, ensuring confidentiality at all times and role model this to staff.
* Participate in ensuring that the service is of high quality and ready for HIQA inspections at all times.
* Work alongside regulations set out by HIQA and New Directions.
* Ensure all administration tasks are up to date and in line with policies and standards.
* Complete audits and follow up on actions related to these audits.
* Ensure key workers keep their files and administrative work up to date and completed to a high standard.
* Create meaningful plans and goals for service users, in consultation with their desires and choices.
* Ensure continuous review and improvement through evaluations of the service.
* Promote and support independence and community integration for service users, in accordance with New Directions.
* Oversee that staff motivate, support, and encourage service users to engage in planned activities of their choice.
* Undertake required health and safety checks and risk assessments, recording and reporting effectively.
* Carry out health and safety observations and reporting.
* Contribute to Service Users' Person-Centred Planning meetings and follow up on actions and outcomes.
* Support service users in their daily lives and help them make appropriate choices.
* Report concerns regarding welfare, safety, and health requirements.
* Accurately record in line with National Standards and New Directions.
* Support service users in managing behaviours of concern, using positive behaviour support plans tailored to each individual.
* Maintain high quality service by adhering to audits and ensuring follow-up actions.
* Complete all required quality reports competently and appropriately.
* Follow financial procedures, report discrepancies, and work within the budget.
* Develop and maintain professional rapport with co-workers and team members to ensure effective service provision, offering day-to-day support.
* Create opportunities for service users to participate in community activities.
* Promote volunteer, employment, and educational opportunities for service users.
* Attend mandatory and other development training programs.
* Use own initiative and organise and prioritise workload effectively.
* Participate in supervision and appraisals, using reflective practice to enhance skills and practice.
* Take ownership of own professional development.
* Support feedback mechanisms, encouraging suggestions, compliments, and complaints to improve the service.
* Undertake any other work within the scope of the Social Care Leader role to meet service requirements.
Qualifications
* Minimum Level 7 in Applied Social Care or other relevant qualification.
* Full driver’s license with two years' experience.
* Currently undertaking or holding a CORU-recognised Social Care Qualification.
