Warehouse Manager / Operations Manager
Job Purpose
To oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring the efficient handling of goods in and goods out, accurate stock control, and safe forklift operations. The Warehouse Supervisor will lead the warehouse team to maintain high service levels while ensuring compliance with company procedures, particularly for medical and surgical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations Management
Supervise daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
Ensure all goods in and goods out processes are completed accurately and efficiently
Monitor workflow and allocate tasks to team members to meet operational targets
Ensure all transactions are completed correctly in the warehouse management system
Team Leadership & Supervision
Lead, motivate, and support a team of warehouse operatives
Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback
Manage attendance, productivity, and adherence to company standards
Assist in recruitment and onboarding of new staff
Stock Control & Accuracy
Oversee inventory management, ensuring high levels of stock accuracy
Coordinate regular cycle counts and full stock takes
Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions
Ensure proper stock rotation and storage practices (e.g. FIFO where applicable)
Goods In & Out Oversight
Ensure all incoming goods are checked, recorded, and stored correctly
Oversee order picking and dispatch to ensure accuracy and timely delivery
Verify all documentation and system entries for inbound and outbound shipments
Liaise with transport providers and internal departments
Forklift & Equipment Management
Ensure safe and effective use of forklifts and warehouse equipment
Verify that all operators are trained and certified
Conduct or oversee equipment inspections and report faults
Promote a strong culture of safe working practices
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment
Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of medical and surgical equipment
Conduct risk assessments and support audits where required
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and processes
Support implementation of new systems or procedures
Monitor KPIs and drive performance improvements
General Duties
Provide hands‑on support with warehouse tasks as needed
Communicate effectively with management and other departments
Prepare reports on warehouse performance
Undertake additional duties as required
Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory or senior operative role
Strong understanding of goods in/out processes and stock control
Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS)
Valid forklift licence (counterbalance/reach)
Leadership and team management experience
Good organisational and problem‑solving skills
Desirable
Experience within medical, pharmaceutical, or regulated environments
Knowledge of quality standards and compliance requirements
Experience managing KPIs and performance metrics
