Job Title: Production Manager - Evening Shift Location: Naas, Co. Kildare Reports to: Operations Manager Job Purpose: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to lead and oversee all production and maintenance operations within a busy manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will ensure the efficient use of resources to meet production targets, maintain product quality, and deliver finished goods in line with customer requirements and company standards.
Key Responsibilities: Production & Operations Management Lead day-to-day production activities to ensure delivery of the weekly production plan and achievement of output and efficiency targets.
Provide strong leadership to the production team, ensuring high standards of performance and operational discipline.
Develop and maintain effective shift rosters to align staffing with production needs.
Proactively identify production risks or constraints and work with planning and support teams to resolve issues or implement contingency plans.
Monitor and analyse production KPIs, investigate underperformance, and implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership & Development Promote a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and staff engagement across the production floor.
Oversee staff recruitment, training, and development to build a strong and capable team.
Conduct performance reviews, develop individual training plans, and ensure adequate cross-training to maintain operational resilience.
Manage disciplinary processes and attendance in accordance with internal policies.
Quality, Compliance & Audit Readiness Maintain and implement SOPs and production schedules aligned with BRC and other customer food safety standards.
Support internal and external audits, providing relevant data and representation for the production function.
Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.
Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and improve standards.
Collaborate with other departments (maintenance, hygiene, technical, planning, supply chain) to resolve issues impacting production.
Facilitate the integration of new products and processes into the production line.
Health, Safety & Environmental Management Ensure all staff are trained and competent in their roles and that tasks are performed in line with health and safety requirements.
Maintain high standards in accident reporting, incident investigation, and corrective action implementation.
Oversee proper use of PPE, chemical safety data, and hazardous material handling.
Manage waste segregation and disposal in line with legal and environmental obligations.
Support the environmental team in implementing and improving sustainability practices.
Candidate Profile: Qualifications & Experience Minimum 3 years of experience in a production leadership role within a manufacturing environment (food sector preferred).
Proven track record of managing teams and delivering production targets.
Experience working in compliance-driven environments (BRC or equivalent standards).
Key Skills Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with manufacturing software is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to manage within set budgets and report on key operational metrics.
