Swimming Teachers & Lifeguards (Full-Time & Part-Time)


Role And Reporting Structure

In an exciting development, Swim Ireland is currently expanding pool operations to operate an additional Pop-Up Pool in Ballinrobe, County Mayo. We are now seeking passionate and qualified Swimming Teachers to deliver high-quality swimming instruction to individuals and groups of all ages and abilities. The ideal candidate will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes water confidence, skill development, and a lifelong love of swimming. We are also looking for vigilant and responsible Lifeguards to ensure the safety and well‑being of all pool users.

Key Areas Of Responsibility



Swimming Teachers

* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised pool environment.
* Plan and deliver structured swimming lessons in line with Swim Ireland guidelines.
* Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities.
* Monitor and assess swimmer progress, providing feedback to participants and parents/guardians.
* Ensure the safety and well‑being of all swimmers at all times.
* Maintain accurate attendance and progress records.
* Set up and pack away equipment before and after sessions.
* Promote positive behaviour and encourage swimmer confidence and enjoyment.


Lifeguards

* Supervise swimmers and enforce pool rules to prevent accidents and injuries.
* Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid or CPR as needed.
* Conduct regular safety checks of the pool area, equipment, and water quality.
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in and around the pool.
* Provide excellent customer service and assist patrons with queries or concerns.
* Participate in ongoing training and emergency drills.


Education & Experience



Swimming Teachers

* Relevant Swimming Teaching qualifications.
* Current Safeguarding and First Aid certification desired but not essential.
* Experience teaching children and/or adults in a swimming environment.
* Knowledge of water safety and emergency procedures.


Lifeguards

* Valid RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent.
* Current First Aid and CPR certification desired but not essential.
* Strong swimming ability and physical fitness.
* Excellent observation and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies.

Training and upskilling will be provided by Swim Ireland if required.

* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends if required.


Lifeguards

* Previous experience in a lifeguard or aquatic safety role.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Team player with a proactive and professional attitude.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Strong work ethic, flexibility, and adaptability.
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends if required.


Essential Requirements

* Be eligible to work in Ireland on a full-time basis.

Remuneration & Location

* The package will include a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Please note that this role includes evenings and weekends.
* Position Tenure: 12 month fixed-term full-time/part time contract.
* Position Location: Swim Ireland Pop Up Pool, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo.

Appointment will be made subject to satisfactory safeguarding and vetting requirements and reference checks.
