Position Overview:
As a Field Engineer for Diperk, you will respond to customer needs for diagnosis, services, and repairs on Perkins engines and generators in the field. You will report back to both the customer and the Diperk team on work completed and any further recommendations to facilitate comprehensive quoting. The role offers opportunities to develop skills across sectors like Electrical Power Generation, Construction, Agriculture, Rail, Marine, and more.
Job Description:
DiPerk Power Solutions is the only authorized OEM distributor for Perkins in the UK and Ireland, supporting repairs and maintenance for plant, electric power, agricultural, and marine equipment.
Major Job Functions:
1. Communicate with customers/end users to understand procedures and site requirements, and provide estimated arrival times. (10%)
2. Perform pre-task assessments to ensure safety and compliance with safety standards. (20%)
3. Carry out complex diagnosis of engine problems, including mechanical, electrical, and aftertreatment systems, using Perkins EST and diagnosis equipment. Update customers and provide detailed reports for quoting. (25%)
4. Identify and requisition parts needed for repairs, and coordinate delivery times for scheduling. (10%)
5. Undertake major overhauls, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance on Perkins engines, ensuring work meets standards. (25%)
6. Support call-out rota for out-of-hours breakdowns and service requests across the UK, including overtime and occasional overnight stays. (10%)

* Deep knowledge of diesel engines
* Mechanical and electrical engine systems, including aftertreatment

* Conduct site risk assessments before work
* Prepare method statements in line with safety procedures
* Inspect and test completed work, report defects
* Complete service and warranty documentation accurately and timely
Education & Experience:
* Relevant engineering qualification (engines/generators)
* Marine Engineering, Heavy Earth Moving, Construction, Power Generation experience
* Minimum 5 years’ field service experience
* Customer interaction experience
* Valid driver’s license
Candidate will be provided with a service van, laptop, and mobile phone, along with distributor-level training using the latest diagnostic equipment.
