Job Title: Mechanical Workshop Manager

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Workshop Manager to oversee the operations of our mechanical workshop.
Predominantly located in the workshop, you will also be required to execute mechanical repairs on process equipment in the field as necessary to support factory needs.
Customer interaction and request management will form key parts of the role, and with an ever-changing schedule, the candidate must be flexible and adaptable to meet the requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Workshop Management:
* Oversee the daily operations of the mechanical workshop, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Determination of task completion in-house or recommendation of alternative course of action.
* Plan, prioritize, and manage repairs simultaneously to address complex technical problems.
* Manage the availability and readiness of tools and machinery to support work activities.
* Maintenance & Safety:
* Ensure all mechanical equipment and machinery are regularly maintained and in optimal working condition.
* Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for workshop equipment.
* Enforce and be the role model for all safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment and prevent accidents.
* Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments of the workshop.
* Quality Control:
* Monitor the quality of work performed, ensuring that all tasks meet company and industry /client standards.
* Inspect completed work to ensure it meets design specifications and quality benchmarks.
* Provide technical support to resolve issues related to machinery and mechanical components.
* Team Leadership:
* Supervise and lead a team of mechanical technicians and other workshop personnel.
* Assign tasks and responsibilities to ensure efficient workflow.
* Monitor staff performance and provide guidance and training to improve skills and knowledge.
* Training & Development:
* Ensure team members are fully trained and assist in their development, providing access to necessary certifications and training programs.
* Stay updated on the latest mechanical technologies and techniques, ensuring the team is well-informed.
* Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices and identify future trends.
* Communication & Reporting:
* Maintain clear and consistent communication with management regarding workshop activities and performance.
* Provide regular reports on workshop operations, including productivity, downtime, and equipment status.
* Monitor inventory levels, order replacement parts as needed, and evaluate budgets quarterly.
* Driving cost-effectiveness and efficiency, forecasting and managing spending to budget. Determining ROI of each work & activity.
* Manage communication with external suppliers regarding repairing and replacing tooling components and equipment.
Requirements:
* Education and Experience:
* National Certificate/Diploma/ equivalent with a minimum NFQ level 6 in mechanical/electrical/engineering discipline.
* 5+ years' experience in mechanical fabrication. Demonstrated Skills and proficiency in workshop equipment are mandatory.
* Skills & Competencies:
* Technically proficient in using hand, power, and workshop machinery such as Lathes, Milling Machines, and CNC Routers.
* Knowledge of mechanical principles
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* In-depth knowledge of mechanical equipment, tools, and systems.
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mechanical operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with CNC machinery, welding, or specialized mechanical systems.
* Experience with CAD/CAM.
* Project Management experience.
