Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop a team of Area Managers to ensure pharmacies are operating efficiently and effectively while delivering great customer experience.
Ensure Area Managers sit close to teams to identify opportunities and potential issues early.
Motivate teams to deliver performance within region; conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Assist Area Manager team with performance management issues, working closely with Human Resources.
Foster a positive, collaborative work environment encouraging professional growth and teamwork.
Deliver the Retail Vision by developing business plans and strategies and cascading to the region.
Work collaboratively with departments on key initiatives, services, and products to enhance growth opportunities.
Create a culture of accountability and responsibility; set standards of operational excellence and store presentation.
Build relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and shopping centre management to enhance brand presence.
Implement and promote corporate social responsibility initiatives within the region.
Drive operational best practice; manage daily operations ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency, productivity and profitability.
Ensure pharmacy management systems and technology are effectively used to streamline operations and improve service delivery.
Ensure all pharmacies provide excellent customer service, addressing complaints effectively.
Implement and monitor KPIs to drive performance, efficiency, and profitability.
End‑to‑end P&L accountability for the region.
Develop and manage regional budgets, ensuring each pharmacy operates within its financial means.
Identify cost reduction opportunities and implement strategies to improve profitability.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
Maintain open lines of communication with the Retail Lead and other stakeholders to align on business goals and initiatives.
Collaborate with other departments (Regulatory, Marketing, Commercial) to support regional initiatives and enhance efficiency.
Work closely with other Regional Managers to ensure consistency in messaging and communication to store teams.
Prepare and present regular reports on regional performance, challenges, and opportunities to Retail Senior Management Team.
Champion exceptional customer service across all locations; develop and implement strategies to enhance customer experience and loyalty.
Ensure L&D training on customer service is embedded into region.
Stay informed about market trends, competitor activity and customer needs; utilize information to identify growth opportunities.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years experience in an Area Manager Role, ideally within Retail Pharmacy.
Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and guide pharmacy teams.
Proficiency in analysing financial and operational data for informed decision‑making.
Solid understanding of pharmacy operations, regulations and best practices.
Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions quickly.
Knowledge of trends within supply chain, wholesale, and retail pharmacy sector.
Proven influencing and leadership skills.

Excellent communication, planning, organisation and analytical skills.
