Position DescriptionVacancies exist for Hands-On Supervisor roles in the Lee Stations across Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical, Projects and Operations. Built between 1952 and 1957, Lee Generating Stations joined the schemes on the rivers Shannon, Erne and Liffey to become ESB's fourth major hydroelectric development. This involved creating two reservoirs in the Lee Valley, which:cover an area of 14km² andhave a storage capacity of 45 million cubic metres.Overall, the stations have a combined capacity of 27 MW. Inniscarra has two generating units: one produces 15 MW and the other produces 4 MW. Both units use Voith turbines with Brown Boveri generators, which operate under an average head of 30m. Carrigadrohid has one generating unit (Voith turbine/Siemens generator) with a capacity of 8 MW, operating under an average head of 13m. Lee stations are a high efficiency producer of renewable energy and are part of ESB's goal of Net Zero by 2040.The Supervisor(s) will be required to work across all functional areas within the station including maintenance, operations, civil, supervision and contractor management. The successful candidate(s) will be required to work autonomously, be flexible and be a self-starter, providing support to other teams and projects as required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others is required.They will work in a dynamic environment and to meet the business needs the successful candidate will be required on occasions to have flexible working hours/working week including weekend and night working and be available for call-outs.Key ResponsibilitiesDuties of the role includes but may not be limited to:Supervision of team and contractors or others, and management of people within the teams.Prioritising, scheduling and coordinating the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance/Project activities to ensure business continuity.Delivery of work across all areas of the station, including maintenance, operations control room, civil, technical and support functionsEnsuring safety of staff and contractors through compliance with safety systems, including work permitting, setting to work and risk assessments/ method statementsCarrying out work in a hands-on capacity.Carrying out water control duties.Ensuring the teams have all required skills and competencies to meet the demands of their roles.Dealing effectively with stakeholders including; Suppliers, statutory bodies, outside agencies and contractors.Procurement and tendering of key services and componentsLiaising effectively with other ESB departments and Hydro Control Centre as required to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the Plant.Management of other plant specific projects as required.Assisting with compliance to ESB standards and guidelinesAssisting with compliance of the environmental and safety management systemCarrying out the role of Work Controller under the safety rules and execute all duties required under the rolePromoting & Foster teamwork by empowering and developing maintenance teams to deliver optimum capabilityProviding cover for Plant Manager from time to time as required by the businessAdditional duties as required by the Plant managerPlant Controller duties including within the Control Room/weekend inspections and act as a Safety from the System Coordinator.Planning work using the work management system and keeping the work management system updated.Experience And QualificationsEssential5 years experience and technical knowledge of power station maintenance or maintenance practices in similar heavy process industryFAS / SOLAS / Senior Trade qualification in a relevant discipline (electrical, mechanical) or equivalent relevant discipline.Full B driving licence.Strong safety focus and knowledge of the setting people to work safelyAbility and desire to lead safety culture.Team building and leadership qualities with a proven track record in supervising personnel.Experience in the operation of Work Management Systems and Contractor ManagementExcellent working knowledge of PC'sWorking knowledge of computerised control systemsWorking knowledge of PLCsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsGood planning skillsDesirableExperience in project managementKnowledge of Safe Systems of work, Permitting and Isolating processes.Experience working with SAP system and CMMS+LocationThe successful candidate will be based at Lee Hydro Power Stations.Reporting toInitially reporting to the Plant Manager or persons acting or appointed by the Plant Manager.AllowancesAn On Call allowance will apply whist in this role and an ongoing business need requires the allowance.
