As an Engineering Geologist at IGSL you will develop the practical site experience and technical skillsets essential for a career in engineering geology. You will gain competency in soil and rock logging and develop an understanding of a wide range of ground investigation and laboratory testing techniques.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:
· Assist in the planning, execution, and supervision of ground investigations across a variety of sites.
· Undertake a wide range of geotechnical investigative techniques including trial pits, plate load tests, soakaway tests, foundation pits and more.
· Produce geotechnical logs and interpret site investigation data using an AGS package.
· Carry out GPS site surveys and produce site maps using software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS and ExpertGPS.
· Develop an understanding of various geotechnical investigation techniques and data interpretation, including Cable Percussive and Rotary Core drilling, Dynamic Probing and Window Sampling.
· Gain experience in geotechnical and environmental laboratory testing, including sample handling, classification, and interpretation.
· Work closely under the guidance of Chartered Geologists and Chartered Engineers, receiving structured mentoring and technical support.
· Build a strong foundation toward professional development and chartership within engineering geology.
Requirements:
* Level 7 or 8 qualification in Geology, Earth Sciences, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Full clean drivers license.
