About This Role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our team responsible for the launch and ongoing operation of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC). As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our cloud services, collaborating with technology leaders to enhance day-to-day operations, and driving improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Technology Leaders: Partner with technology leaders to improve day-to-day operations and service performance.
* Contribute to ESC Launch and Operation: Contribute to the launch and ongoing operation of the European Sovereign Cloud, including collaborating with global teams and influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology.
* Engage in On-Call Rotations: Engage in on-call rotations as part of a team to root-cause incidents and maintain operational resilience.
* Review Operational Health: Review operational health of services, identify anomalies, and craft actionable bug reports to improve system efficiency.
* Develop and Test Scripts: Develop and test scripts to enhance workflows and automate repeatable tasks.
Requirements
This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state, have demonstrated expertise in systems engineering across hardware, software, networking, and operating systems, experience scripting processes in Bash, Python, or Ruby, solid understanding of Linux and networking, and ability to troubleshoot and anticipate performance, reliability, or availability issues.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience with Monitoring Frameworks: Experience with monitoring frameworks such as Prometheus, Grafana, and New Relic.
* Mentoring Junior Engineers: Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead cross-organizational efforts requiring collaboration across multiple teams.
* Cloud Operations: Experience with operating 24x7 high-availability, distributed software applications and tuning performance/fleet utilization.
