Job Title: R&D Innovation Specialist
The role of the R&D Innovation Specialist is to support the development and execution of medical device innovation. This includes preparing and reviewing technical documentation, collaborating with component suppliers, working with cross-functional teams to create detailed designs, and supporting products throughout their lifecycle.
Main Responsibilities:
* Generate innovative product concepts within project teams to meet performance criteria.
* Develop and test prototypes; analyze results to identify optimal solutions to technical challenges.
* Create detailed component and assembly drawings/specifications using CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Fusion).
* Select materials, define assembly methods, and set process parameters.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless integration of components and systems.
* Liaise with external vendors and resources to achieve project objectives.
* Write technical reports and maintain detailed documentation of design iterations, test results, and project progress.
* Understand end-user techniques and clinical needs to support product training material development.
* Conduct research on new technologies, materials, and methodologies relevant to product development goals.
* Use engineering principles and simulation tools to design and optimize product components and systems.
* Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions effectively to team members and management.
* Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in research and development.
* Ensure compliance with Quality Management System requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Honours degree in Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience across all stages of medical device design and development, including CAD design (SolidWorks), prototyping, and testing.
