Were recruiting on behalf of a leading international smart-grid and energy technology company seeking a Principal Manager Global Field Engineering (Electrical & Instrumentation Systems) to join their Limerick team.
This pivotal position supports the Head of Global Field Engineering, providing structure, leadership, and operational excellence across regional teams in Ireland, Australia, and the United States.
This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role with genuine global scope, offering exposure to senior decision-making while maintaining direct involvement in field operations.
The Role
Youll act as the key coordination point between regional Field Engineering Managers and global leadership, ensuring alignment, efficiency, and consistent delivery across all locations.
The role involves establishing best practice frameworks, implementing global standards, and supporting technical teams in scaling and improving operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day coordination between regional Field Engineering teams and global leadership
Define and implement global best practices, technical documentation, and standardised processes
Lead and mentor the central engineering team in Limerick while ensuring alignment across international operations
Introduce structured project management and reporting systems to enhance transparency and accountability
Drive continuous improvement, sharing lessons learned and developing scalable technical solutions
Oversee regular audits, reviews, and performance assessments across regions
Support strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for global operations
Design and manage onboarding, training, and development frameworks for Field Engineers worldwide
Foster collaboration between engineering operations and product development to accelerate innovation and issue resolution
About You
Minimum 5 years experience in a senior operational or technical leadership position within large-scale electrical or instrumentation systems environments
Strong technical expertise across electrical engineering, instrumentation, automation, or control systems
Proven success implementing structured processes and quality frameworks
Experienced managing distributed or international teams
Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (desirable)
Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile (desirable)
Experience within global operations or multinational engineering environments preferred
