Environmental Scientist / ConsultantRoughan O'Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit an environmental scientist/consultant with three to five years' experience for a permanent position within our expanding environmental teamContract type: PermanentLocation: Sandyford, D.18; Woodford, D.17; Horgan's Quay, CorkSalary: CompetitiveAbout the roleYou will work with engineers, environmental scientists, ecologists, hydrologists, hydrogeologists and planners on some of the most exciting infrastructure projects currently being undertaken in Ireland and the UK. You will report to our team director and principal environmental consultants.Current projects include:Waterford City Public Infrastructure Project, IrelandBusConnects DublinCork Area Commuter RailDublin Port Tolka Estuary GreenwayDutiesPrepare inputs for and coordinate all aspects of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) processesPrepare all relevant planning application documentation, including Part 8 planning applications; SID applications; Railway Orders; Marine Area Consents; licences/permit applications etc.Organise and manage public consultation events, oral hearings, stakeholder engagement events etc.Advise clients on environmental and planning requirements prior to and throughout the planning processManage and coordinate environmental inputs required for the Option Selection phase of projectsUndertake environmental and planning appraisal of sitesEssentialRelevant environmental science/planning qualification, such as a BSc, BA, MScThree to five years' experience in the environmental assessment sectorGood knowledge of planning and environmental legislation and the Irish planning systemExcellent working knowledge of EIA and SEA processesKnowledge of Appropriate Assessment (AA) and Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) processesAn ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamExperience using GIS and other planning tools including census statistics to provide evidenced-based planning and researchExcellent report writing and interpersonal skillsComfortable working in a busy environment with tight deadlinesExcellent attention to detailCapable of producing quality outputsExcellent Microsoft Office skills, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPointFluent/highly proficient in spoken and written EnglishSelf-motivated, highly organised, ambitious, positive and focusedDesirableMember of a recognised professional body in the field, such as ISEP, CIWEM, IPI, RTPIMSc qualification in a relevant specialismProject management experienceFull driving licenceAbout Roughan O'DonovanRoughan O'Donovan (ROD) is a leading expert in planning, designing and managing major infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients across Ireland and the UK.
