Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in Electrical Engineering
Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role. This role involves developing your own research in Electrical Engineering while teaching undergraduate and postgraduate classes in energy systems, embedded systems, control systems, microelectronics, signal processing and telecommunications. You will design and develop learning activities, conduct classes, and publish high‑quality research as part of a teaching and research team or independently.
Role Details

Salary:

Associate Lecturer (Level A) – AUD $113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
Lecturer (Level B) – AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation


Full time
Fixed term – 2 years
Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Responsibilities

Develop and conduct undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the specified areas.
Design and deliver engaging learning activities and assessments.
Publish and disseminate research findings in peer‑reviewed venues.
Collaborate with colleagues within the School and broader Faculty.
Support student learning and provide academic guidance.

General Qualifications

PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Strong record or potential for high‑quality research.
Evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.

Specific Requirements
Associate Lecturer (Level A)

A PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, and relevant work experience.
Proactive commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
Knowledge of educational technologies and online delivery methods.
Experience engaging students and fostering independent learning through assessment and feedback.
Preparation for professional development of teaching practice.
Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to undertake high‑quality academic research and independent research with limited supervision.
Track record of publications and conference presentations.
Collaboration across disciplines and relationship building.
Highly developed interpersonal skills.
Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to relevant training.

Lecturer (Level B)

A PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, and relevant work experience.
Proactive commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/postgraduate level.
Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
Knowledge of industry or experience of work‑integrated learning (desirable).
Mentorship and guidance to students, nurturing their growth.
Knowledge of student well‑being and pastoral care best practices.
Support for equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
High level research track record with high impact outcomes.
Professional involvement with profession and/or industry.
Strong communication and networking skills.
Collaboration across disciplines and relationship building.
Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to relevant training.
