Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer – Project Delivery Lead
This is a senior technical leadership role focused on delivering high-impact manufacturing systems, automation, and digitalisation projects within a regulated manufacturing environment. The position plays a key role in advancing Industry 4.0 capabilities while leading cross-functional project teams and managing complex technology portfolios.
The role is primarily site-based in Ireland, with potential involvement in projects across additional manufacturing locations.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Portfolio Leadership
* Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of IS, automation, and manufacturing systems projects.
* Maintain accountability for project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and resource management across multiple concurrent initiatives.
* Own end-to-end project delivery from business case development through qualification and transition into live manufacturing operations.
Technical & Strategic Delivery
* Provide technical leadership across manufacturing systems, automation, and digital solutions in a GMP-regulated environment.
* Translate strategic technology opportunities and emerging solutions into practical, executable project plans.
* Apply global standards and corporate blueprints while adapting solutions to local manufacturing and business needs.
* Perform system and feasibility assessments, define scope, prioritise deliverables, and recommend optimal technical solutions.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with business stakeholders, IS service owners, enterprise partners, and external vendors.
* Communicate effectively across all organisational levels, proactively highlighting risks, issues, and mitigation strategies.
* Lead vendor engagement activities including technical oversight, delivery performance, and commercial alignment.
Business Engagement & Requirements
* Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements from key stakeholders.
* Convert operational needs into functional and technical design specifications aligned with manufacturing objectives.
Required Qualifications
Essential
* Doctorate in Engineering with
2+ years
of combined experience in Information Systems and Manufacturing Process Automation
OR
* Master's degree in Engineering with
4+ years
of combined experience in Information Systems and Manufacturing Process Automation
OR
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering with
6+ years
of combined experience in Information Systems and Manufacturing Process Automation
Preferred Experience
* Engineering, Information Systems, Computer, or Software background within a
GMP-regulated manufacturing environment

* Proven experience leading complex projects and cross-functional resources.
* 8+ years
of overall manufacturing experience, including
5+ years
within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.
