Job Title: Purchasing Coordinator
Description:
This role is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of production, inventory, and MRO items. The ideal candidate will analyze requisitions to determine quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements, and recommend suppliers to fulfill scheduled plant deliveries.
The successful Purchasing Coordinator will maintain up-to-date ABC classification for planning and other key inputs into the PFEP process. They will also ensure optimal inventory levels and safety stock are maintained for their parts, and coordinate with Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues with suppliers.
An added responsibility of this role is to identify total cost and cash flow opportunities with suppliers, and analyze and select parts for KanBan and Supplier replenishment. This individual may lead and direct others to accomplish desired organizational objectives, expediting deliveries to meet and exceed scheduled critical requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS degree or 5+ years minimum planner/buyer manufacturing experience. APICS (CPIM) or equivalent certification is preferred. Considerable knowledge of industry-related supply base, skilled in production and supplier scheduling, knowledgeable of supplier processes and capabilities, able to provide direction and training to peers as needed, computer proficient with ERP and Microsoft Office applications, basic mathematical skills, experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments, experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, and lean manufacturing processes, experience with visual management systems, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The Purchasing Coordinator will work closely with internal teams to resolve challenging delivery requirements, communicate forecasts and replenishment plans to suppliers, review open requirements, monitoring vendor performance and expediting where necessary, and ensure that problems relating to delivery, quality, or pricing are promptly conveyed to the supplier and resolved in a timely manner. Additionally, they will identify and implement cost reduction/productivity projects to meet corporate initiatives/goals, and maintain pipeline and financial records for reporting and tracking productivity.
The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying and addressing root causes of shortages, help flag corrective actions, and provide customer promise dates for sales orders based on material and capacity availability. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including suppliers, production planners, and accounting team members.
