Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Construction Pipe Layer to join our civils team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation of drainage, watermain, ducting, and utility pipelines on civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong background in groundworks and pipe laying, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Install foul and surface water drainage systems, ducting, manholes, culverts, and utility services in accordance with drawings and specifications.
Prepare and grade trenches and bedding for various pipe materials (PVC, clay, concrete, ductile iron, etc.).
Lay pipes to line and level using laser levels or grade rods.
Construct and finish manholes, chambers, and associated structures.
Assist with backfilling, compaction, and reinstatement works.
Operate small plant and tools safely and efficiently (e.g. wacker plates, trench rollers).
Work closely with site engineers and foremen to ensure accuracy and productivity.
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping on site.
Report any issues, defects, or hazards promptly to the site management team.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
Proven experience as a Pipe Layer / Groundworker in civil engineering or utilities projects.
Strong understanding of pipe laying techniques and alignment control.
Ability to interpret construction drawings and levels.
Safe Pass and Manual Handling (mandatory).
Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations on construction sites.
Reliable, hardworking, and able to work as part of a team.
Desirable:
CSCS card for relevant plant (360 Excavator, Dumper, Roller, etc.).
Confined Space, Abrasive Wheels, or Signing, Lighting & Guarding certification.
Experience working on Irish Water or local authority civils projects.
Full clean driving licence.
