Role Purpose: To provide an effective, efficient and high-quality Vascular Imaging service in a patient centred environment. The purpose of this service is to provide diagnostic assessment and assist in treatment plans for identified patients as directed by the Chief Vascular Physiologist. Qualifications: Each candidate must on closing date for applications; (i)Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent. Or (ii) Possess the Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent. Or (iii)Possess an equivalent relevant qualification (Level 8). And Candidates must be able to demonstrate the clinical capacity and administrative capacity associated with the role. Desirable however not essential Accreditation by the Society of Vascular Technology Great Britain and Ireland (SVTGBI) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Key Responsibilities: The Vascular Department provides a full range of non-invasive Vascular diagnostic services for in patients and outpatients. The person holding this post is required to support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge and competence and be suitably qualified to perform in all of the following: Record patient case histories and carry out relevant tests Conduct a full range of non-invasive vascular tests including physiological exams such as ABIs, duplex imaging of carotid and vertebral arteries, peripheral arteries and veins, abdominal studies, segmental pressures & exercise testing. Training will be provided. Compile a report on all tests performed (as per department protocol). Assist in the care and maintenance of all equipment in the Vascular Diagnostic Unit Participate in research under the direction of the Chief Vascular Physiologist and/or the Vascular Consultant Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time To act for other staff in their absence as required Maintain patient confidentiality and safety at all times. The successful candidate should also: Have the ability to follow direction from senior staff. Be competent in managing patients presenting for investigation. Have full knowledge of ethical principles, standards, policies and protocols required in Vascular Diagnostics. Ensure that services are provided to an agreed standard in line with departmental policies and procedures. Ensure an understanding of the importance and relevance of quality in relation to their everyday work. Ensure that effective safety procedures are in place to comply with the Health, Safety & Welfare at Work Act.
