Controller - Market Settlement
Job Description:
This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of the electricity market. The Controller works closely with data providers to verify and process data inputs from various wholesale market interfaces.
The team's settlements business areas have specific obligations that must be met to ensure relevant trading and settlement code timelines are met. Deadlines can be daily, weekly, or monthly, requiring close teamwork to process financial information and publish key data within predetermined deadlines.
* Follow established processes and procedures to execute assigned activities within required timelines.
* Perform routine checks of financial information using pre-populated checklists to ensure accuracy.
* Produce weekly financial settlement documents to calculate market participants' financial positions.
* Generate daily settlements reports, credit risk management reports, and clearing tasks.
* Upload settlement documents on the website for market participants and ensure publication timelines are met.
* Conduct cash flow checks using Excel and prepare files for analysis by the Analyst team.
* Review financial data before final checks and approval by senior team members.
* Operate system applications to track and monitor system files during the financial settlements process.
* Escalate complex issues to Analysts or senior team members for resolution.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
* Typically 1-2 years experience in a financial administrative role or processing information.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Effective time management to achieve strict deadlines.
* Able to communicate effectively in a business environment and escalate issues to senior team members.
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment with a flexible approach.
* Working experience of MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
