Fitness to Practise and Legal Affairs Manager (Assistant Principal Grade) Reporting to the Head of Legal Affairs, Governance and Programme Delivery, the Fitness to Practise and Legal Affairs Manager will play a key role in managing all legal matters within the PSI, which includes providing sound legal advice as well as overseeing the management of the PSIs fitness to practise processes. Candidates must have, on the closing date for receipt of applications: Be a qualified solicitor or barrister, admitted to either the Roll of Solicitors in the Republic of Ireland or the Roll of Practising Barristers, and hold a valid practising certificate. A National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) level 8 degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Have a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience, to include experience in regulatory as well as public and administrative law. A minimum of 5 years of relevant management experience to include significant experience in people management. Previous experience in instructing counsel, committees and external lawyers Proven track record of providing legal advice in a pragmatic and commercially sensitive matter. Experience in analysing complex legislation and legal agreements before committing to a decision that can be communicated in an easy-to-understand manner. In addition, the following are considered desirable: Experience working in-house in the public or private sector. Experience of professional regulation with a track record in managing and coordinating the provision of legal and advisory services. Experience preparing legal opinions on administrative and regulatory law matters. Experience in contract management. Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external bodies. Demonstrated leadership and people management experience, including performance management and team development. High level of organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Proficiency in the Irish language.
