ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The Policy and Research Coordinator will lead the Association's policy and research activities. Working cross-functionally, the Coordinator will shape our strategic thinking, contribute to national conversations on housing and social policy and help to deliver positive outcomes for the communities we serve.
Reporting to the Communications and Policy Manager, the Coordinator will contribute to the core functions of a busy team withing Tuath's Corporate Services Department. The ideal candidate will have experience working on high-profile and complex policy issues. They will be a diligent, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver research projects on issues relevant to the Association, in collaboration with internal departments and stakeholders.
* Monitor, research, analyse and provide advice on public policy issues affecting housing in Ireland and internationally.
* Shape the Association's policy agenda through coordinated input from staff, board members and key stakeholders.
* Facilitate and contribute to internal and external working groups focused on policy and research.
* Maximise the impact of policy research to support the Association's strategic goals.
* Provide clear and timely updates, reports, and feedback on relevant policy and research areas.
* Keep staff informed of legislative and policy developments, highlighting their practical implications for the organisation and its tenants.
* Stay up to date with sector trends, innovative practices and best-in-class approaches in social inclusion, engagement and participation.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, AHBs, membership bodies, research organisations, media and peers across sectors.
* Produce high-quality papers, reports, submissions, summaries and briefing materials for various audiences, including the Board and its Committees.
* Analyse policy proposals and political trends, providing strategic insights and guidance to senior management and internal teams.
* Ensure all policy and research activities align with the Association's mission and values, contributing to the development of thriving communities.
* Work with the communications team to create accessible and engaging policy and research content for social media and external audiences.
Essential Criteria
Minimum of two years' experience in a similar working environment.
Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality quantitative and qualitative research.
Knowledge of government policy-making processes in at least three of the following areas: social housing, social policy, homelessness, economic policy, planning, real estate or property development.
Familiarity with major Irish housing policy research reports and key policy initiatives.
Proven ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Experience in developing clear, coherent and realistic policy positions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure and within deadlines.
Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
Confident in delivering clear, engaging oral presentations.
Ability to interpret complex data and ideas and communicate them effectively.
Proven skill in writing clear, concise reports and policy documents for varied audiences.
Demonstrated capacity to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
Knowledge of the Irish media and public affairs landscape
Knowledge and understanding of non-profit housing models in Ireland and across Europe
Experience of interpreting new legislation / policy / regulation
Experience of commissioning and managing research
Awareness of principles of good governance in non-profit and commercial sector
