Job Overview
The Cork Airport Engineering Team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of critical systems providing air traffic control services. Engineers in Cork work closely with air traffic control staff to resolve faults and outages.
Main Responsibilities
* Analyzing and resolving faults in real-time environments.
* Carrying out corrective and preventative maintenance duties, and restoring equipment/systems to service after failures.
* Communicating expected return-to-service timescales with key stakeholders.
* Ensuring minimum interruptions to service by performing technical analysis and corrective procedures during periods of reduced traffic.
* Monitoring and maintaining equipment and systems in a safety-critical environment to deliver safe and high-quality customer service.
* Certifying equipment and systems for use by Air Traffic Control.
Key Systems Utilized
VHF communications, surveillance, mechanical and electrical, navigation, and flight data processing systems are essential tools for this role.
Essential Requirements
* Education: Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Network System Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
* Experience: Minimum two years working in engineering.
* Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, proven ability to prioritize workload, flexibility to operate in 24/7 environments, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and excellent verbal and written English language skills.
Desirable Qualifications
Engineering experience and knowledge of air traffic control systems, understanding of computer and network systems, mechanical and electrical systems, systems engineering in regulated environments, systems integration, system test and evaluation methods, and safety-critical systems operation and maintenance are desirable.
