Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Location: Drogheda Overview: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our manufacturing engineering team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and control panels for manufacturing processes and products.
This role involves close collaboration with mechanical, automation, and production teams to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective designs.
Key Responsibilities: Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or SolidWorks Electrical).
Support the design and integration of electrical systems for machinery, automation cells, and production lines.
Specify and select electrical components (motors, sensors, PLCs, HMIs, drives, safety devices, etc.) in compliance with relevant standards (IEC, CE, etc.).
Participate in system commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical systems in the manufacturing environment.
Collaborate with mechanical and control engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards such as ISO ****, ATEX, and relevant EU directives.
Generate and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, test plans, and maintenance manuals.
Provide technical support to production, maintenance, and quality teams.
Assist with new product introduction (NPI) and process improvement projects.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree (NFQ Level 8) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
3+ years of experience in electrical design within a manufacturing or automation environment.
Strong knowledge of control systems, PLCs, and electrical safety standards.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
Experience with industrial automation, robotics, or machine build is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles is advantageous.
Desirable Skills: Experience in panel building, wiring, and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
Familiarity with SCADA systems or embedded control.
Knowledge of CE marking, EMC testing, and safety circuit design.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and meet tight deadlines.
