The Indirect Tax Compliance Specialist (6-Month Temporary Role) is a key member of the International Tax team, responsible for managing reporting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions for a global biopharmaceutical company.
Partnering with Finance, AP/AR, Procurement, and external advisors, you will prepare accurate filings, reconcile transactional data to the general ledger and real-time reporting, and drive proactive compliance and process optimization under strict deadlines.
A Typical Day Prepare indirect tax reporting declarations and ensure accurate, timely submission across assigned jurisdictions.
Reconcile indirect tax returns to GL financial data and real-time reporting records; investigate and resolve variances.
Build and maintain real-time reporting workpapers and audit trails to support filings and management reviews.
Perform control checks and validate transaction-level data to identify discrepancies; coordinate corrective actions with AP/AR and IT.
Support VAT accounts during quarterly close, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analyses.
Review new vendor onboarding documentation for VAT requirements and ensure master data is set up correctly.
Respond to VAT-related queries from business units and provide clear guidance on tax treatment and documentation needs.
Support audits and notices by capturing evidence, drafting responses, and tracking remediation items to closure.
Monitor and track key compliance metrics; surface risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, improve data quality, and standardize compliance processes.
This Role Might Be for You If You Have Hands-on experience preparing VAT/indirect tax returns, reconciliations to GL, and real-time reporting workpapers.
A proven accounting foundation with ability to navigate complex transaction flows through ERP systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for data quality, controls, and root-cause analysis.
Proficiency with ERP systems (preferably Oracle) and comfort using digital tools, dashboards, and Excel for data analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with finance partners, operational teams, vendors, and external advisors.
The ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multinational environment.
A proactive, process-improvement attitude and willingness to detail, standardize, and optimize tasks.
To Be Considered Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
2–3 years of experience in indirect tax compliance and operations; broader accounting experience is preferred.
Availability for a 6-month temporary assignment.
