About this opportunity
The RAN Management and Standardization team inside the Technology and System Management team is involved in the evolution of the RAN O&M as well as standardization of relevant aspects. Standardization is one of the key driving factors in enabling the openness and interoperability in the Radio Access Network. Ericsson continues to be one of the leading contributors in several standard development organizations (such as 3GPP, O-RAN, etc.), collaborates with other industry players and guides through their thought leadership.
Building on our experience from real network operations, profound knowledge about existing standards, and forward-looking research, we invent and master advanced concepts and solutions that shape today's and tomorrow's mobile radio communication.
What you will do
RAN Management area mainly focuses on the O&M interfaces of RAN Network Functions. The RAN O&M architecture and interfaces must be transformed to enable such deployments not only within an Ericsson RAN, but also support external network management systems that integrate also with other network vendor's equipment. Reporting to the Head of RAN Management and Standardization in Technology & Systems Management, you will be responsible to drive the standardization of RAN O&M aspects. You will work on Ericsson aligned standardization strategy in relevant foras' and assess new industry initiatives and developments. You will work closely with RAN Engineering Unit system teams and PEUs, other Engineering Units, other Business Areas, Technology & Strategy, Group Function Technology and Ericsson Research.
In the near term, you will focus on the M-plane standardization work in O-RAN WG4. In O-RAN standardization, Lower layer split (LLS) has been a strategic area for Ericsson RAN to support multi-vendor O-DU and O-RU integrations. The management interface towards O-RUs is M-plane.
You Will
Join our standardization team and contribute towards Ericsson standardization activities.
Represent Ericsson in internal and external standardization meetings.
Strengthen Ericsson standardization strategy in associated forums from a RAN perspective.

You will bring
Strong domain knowledge in Radio technologies (e.g., 5G, LTE, UMTS etc.), Systems Engineering, Systems Design and Architecture areas
Understanding of Radio network interfaces, Operations, Administration, Maintenance and evolution of network management
Prior experience in standardization (e.g., 3GPP, O-RAN, IETF, TMF etc.) is a plus
Flexibility to travel (~15%)
Experience in identifying and developing evolving technology areas
Curiosity in new ways of working, solutions, ecosystem and customer perspectives
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to influence others without formal mandate
Proven ability to communicate and engage with customers.
Academic degree in Science or Engineering M.Sc. or PhD.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
