Purpose of the Role
The post holder is responsible for facilitating the personal and professional development of Keith Shaw ICU Staff Nurses, ensuring they are competent and safe practitioners, thereby providing high‑quality patient care. The post holder will collaborate with nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team within Keith Shaw Unit, other clinical facilitators in the Critical Care Unit, and St. James’s Hospital to continuously improve critical care nursing practice and patient outcomes.
Required
Registered General Nurse with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register.
5 years post‑registration experience in an acute hospital setting or relevant clinical area within the last 7 years, 3 of which must be in critical care nursing.
Management experience throughout the last 2 years.
Cardiothoracic Nursing or Critical Care Nursing Qualification (certificate prior to 2000, or Postgraduate Diploma with research module).
Proficient IT skills, including excellent keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Experience in teaching and assessing the nursing and HCA team over the last 2 years.
Experience working with Critical Care Information Systems (including EPR, PAS, and ICCA).
Experience using advanced critical care equipment.
Knowledge of GDPR.
Completion of a management course.
Completion of a teaching and assessing course.
Research component incorporated into the postgraduate course.
Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems.
