Perioperative Healthcare Assistant
The Perioperative Healthcare Assistant is a member of the surgical team, assisting in the care and management of patients undergoing surgical intervention and procedural sedation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation and checking of theatre equipment as per list and activity.
* Work as a 2nd assistant to the surgeon, assisting with surgical intervention as directed.
* Complete check lists to ensure equipment and instrumentation is available and fit for purpose.
* Stock Management: Assist with the safe transfer of patients within the peri-operative setting, including interdepartmental transfers.
* Assist in the positioning of patients and the use of appropriate pressure-relieving aids.
* Assist with the collection of specimens as directed by the theatre nurse.
Endoscopy Support:
* Support the RGN in the delivery of effective and efficient patient care.
* Understand how information is obtained, transmitted, and stored during the delivery of care services in endoscopy.
* Preparation of endoscopy areas, including the endoscopy wash room.
* Ensure all endoscopes and supporting equipment are available and fit for purpose.
