The Head of Health & Safety will lead the development and implementation of the company’s health and safety strategy across all residential development projects. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation while promoting a proactive safety culture across the organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development and implementation of the company’s Health & Safety strategy, aligning safety performance with business objectives and project delivery.Promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organisation and contractor network.Act as a visible safety leader, influencing behaviour and promoting best practice across all development sites.Maintain expert knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, and other applicable legislation.Monitor and communicate changes in legislation, Approved Codes of Practice and HSA guidance to senior management.Ensure the company’s Health & Safety Management System is fully compliant, regularly reviewed and continuously improved.Ensure the company’s Safety Statement and all associated policies and procedures are implemented and maintained.Ensure Construction Stage Safety Plans are developed and implemented across all projects.Develop and maintain safe systems of work, risk assessments and control measures across company operations.Oversee health and safety audits, inspections and compliance monitoring across all development sites.Ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored following inspections and audits.Escalate significant risks to the Construction Director and senior leadership, including recommending suspension of works where necessary.Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring root causes are identified and preventative measures implemented.Ensure all reportable incidents are notified to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) in accordance with statutory requirements.Oversee health surveillance and occupational monitoring programmes where required.Identify training and certification requirements to ensure compliance with legislation and industry standards.Ensure employees and contractors receive appropriate health and safety training, induction and competency development.Provide quarterly Health & Safety performance reports to senior leadership.Monitor safety performance metrics, identifying trends and implementing improvement initiatives.Monitor health and safety expenditure to ensure alignment with operational and project requirements.10+ year’s experience in a Senior health and safety positionStrong knowledge of Irish construction safety regulationsExperience overseeing multiple construction sites.Strong leadership and influencing skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder managementAbility to drive behavioural safety and cultural change.Strong knowledge of construction risk management
