The Irish General Practice Nurses Educational Association (IGPNEA) is seeking a committed and detail-oriented National Treasurer to join our Board. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the governance and financial stewardship of a national professional organisation supporting General Practice Nurses across Ireland.
About the Role
To date, the role of the IGPNEA National Treasurer has been a role held by IGPNEA members. We are now, for the first time, opening this role out to individuals who are not IGPNEA members.
The National Treasurer plays an important role in ensuring that all IGPNEA income and expenditure is managed in line with Charities Regulator and Revenue requirements, while adhering to IGPNEA policies and governance standards.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the National Account, Conference Account, and Centralised Account
Monitor accounts via emailed updates, monthly bank statements, and explanatory notes from the Administrators, as well as direct internet banking access
Approve / decline unusual day-to-day transactions and Administrator / Membership Secretary office expenses
Refer large, unexpected, or first-time costs to the Boardfor approval where appropriate
Authorise direct payments set up by the Administrator via internet banking
Authorise the use of the IGPNEA credit cards where appropriate
Approve overtime and expenses incurred by employees
Liaise with the accountant regarding income tax liabilities, annual accounts preparation, and annual audit
Prepare draft budgets for Board review and approval at the January meeting, with updates at subsequent meetings
Prepare final account summaries for the Annual Report and AGM
Present the Treasurer’s Report at the AGM
Sign and uphold the IGPNEA Code of Conduct

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:

Has financial oversight or accounting experience
Has strong governance awareness and attention to detail
Is comfortable reviewing financial information and bank statements
Can commit to Board meetings and communication throughout the year
Is passionate about supporting General Practice Nursing in Ireland

Time Commitment

Attendance at Board meetings which are held remotely (typically 4 per year)
Ongoing oversight and communication as required
Ideally attend our annual conference
