OverviewPrincipal Software Engineer, Charles River Development, Assistant Vice President. Act as Full Stack engineer responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of one or more Alpha/Charles River Development modules or components of an agile scrum team. CRD Engineering is innovating and transforming the platform by moving away from monolithic software to next generation cloud-based technology that leverages Microsoft Azure, Kafka, Snowflake, etc. Industry momentum has seen CRD grow over 135% in headcount over the last 5 years, and we continue to grow as a digital innovation leader.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze, design, develop, test, and debug large and complex software enhancements and solutions within CRD’s business and technical problem domains, including modifications to core frameworks and other primary facilities critical to system operationCollaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create simple and sustainable software solutions for complex problemsDirect problem solving for projects or major phases of projects to resolve software technical issuesDevelop, test, debug, and implement software programs, applications and projects using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, or other related languages; stay abreast of emerging technologies impactful to CRD’s businessProvide informed guidance and critical analysis of proposed changes during code reviewsWrite unit and automation tests to ensure a high-quality productIdentify ways of improving development and test methodologies and contribute to related test frameworksConduct manual tests to ensure a high-quality productProvide troubleshooting on large, mission critical client implementationsEngage in the agile software development process by adhering to and advancing the CRD scrum methodology, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectivesPlan and coordinate cross-team activities to complete assignmentsMentor and guide Junior Engineers on designsDemonstrate increasing independence in design and developmentQualificationsRecommended EducationB.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other technical field required; MS degree strongly preferredRecommended Experience4-8 years developing event-driven architecturesExperience with Kafka strongly desired4-8 years developing cloud-native services on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud4-8 years in cloud-native development using Java and SpringExperience with Angular or ReactExperience with SnowflakeExperience with SQL ServerKnowledge of KubernetesExperience developing observable, operable cloud-native software that scales horizontallyExperience in financial services solutions for Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR or Wealth ManagementObject-oriented programming, compiler/interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases, scripting and modern programming languagesStrong problem-solving abilities for multi-tiered, high-performance database applicationsAbility to design and develop software solutions for complex business and technical problemsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work well in a collaborative team environmentKnowledge of Agile development methodologyEmployees are expected to work from the office 2 days a weekTravelMay be required on a limited basis.About State StreetState Street is one of the largest custodian banks, asset managers and asset intelligence companies in the world.
