We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Supervisor to join our team to oversee the fabrication and installation of sheet metal ductwork and components. This is a full-time, permanent role based at our head office and workshop in Ballycoolin, Dublin 11, with travel to site locations as required.
Role Overview
The Sheet Metal Supervisor will manage all workshop and site-based sheet metal activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The role includes supervising fabrication teams, coordinating installations, maintaining quality control, and liaising with project managers to ensure timely delivery of ductwork and sheet metal components.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management & Supervision
* Supervise and coordinate workshop operatives and on-site sheet metal teams.
* Allocate tasks and manage daily workloads to ensure efficient progress.
* Provide guidance, training, and support to junior staff and apprentices.
* Monitor team performance and maintain high standards of workmanship.
Fabrication & Installation Oversight
* Ensure all sheet metal fabrication aligns with technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
* Oversee installation of ductwork and metal components on site, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Conduct inspections and quality checks to verify precision, fit, and finish of all work.
* Troubleshoot fabrication or installation issues and implement corrective measures.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Ensure all workshop and site activities comply with health and safety regulations.
* Conduct regular safety briefings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
* Promote a culture of safety and adherence to company procedures.
* Maintain safe operation of machinery and equipment.
Planning & Coordination
* Coordinate materials, tools, and resources for workshop and site work.
* Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and Estimators to ensure project schedules are met.
* Maintain accurate documentation of work completed, labour hours, and material usage.
* Monitor progress, report issues, and provide updates to senior management.
Quality Control & Continuous Improvement
* Enforce quality standards in fabrication and installation processes.
* Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
* Support commissioning and handover processes with complete and accurate documentation.
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in sheet metal fabrication and installation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
* Strong knowledge of ductwork systems, sheet metal fabrication processes, and HVAC components.
* Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
* Safe Pass and Manual Handling certifications (required).
* Supervisory or health & safety training (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is advantageous.
* Full, clean Category B driving licence.
* Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
