Operations Support Manager - MUH Satellite Campus Facilities Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours.
The Operations Support Manager will oversee environmental hygiene, catering, household services, and patient transport within designated MUH sites.
The role includes leading and supporting staff to maintain high standards across all support services, ensuring compliance with hygiene, cleaning, and auditing procedures.
The manager will ensure compliance with key national and international standards, including HIQA, HSE, and HACCP guidelines.
The candidate will be responsible for the following non-clinical areas across satellite campus facilities and will deputise as required within the Operational Management Structure to include but not limited to the following: Cleaning Catering Patient Transport Security Linen/Laundry General operative duties Locker/staff area management.
The role will also be responsible for planning, organizing and overseeing non-clinical support in line with hospital and regulatory standards.
This includes managing Multi-task Attendants, Household and Hygiene teams to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery: Managing daily operations of support services.
Driving service development and improvement initiatives.
Service Development and Management The Operations Support Manager will support the Operations Services Manager in ensuring efficient and effective delivery of all non-clinical services.
This includes leading business and performance improvement initiatives across catering, hygiene, and household services across multiple sites.
Standards, Regulations, Policies, Procedures and Legislation The Operations Support Manager will oversee and maintain MUH hygiene and safety standards in line with regulatory and hospital requirements: Managing environmental hygiene systems and ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Working with the IPC Team on outbreak management, decontamination, and related hygiene controls.
Planning and Operations The position will support operational planning and oversee non-clinical service logistics: Advising on hygiene and design standards for refurbishments.
Managing staff locker facilities, including maintenance and expansion.
Overseeing household stock control, product rollouts, and staff training.
Coordinating event management and incident response support across the hospital.
Quality Assurance and Risk Management The Operations Support Manager will lead quality and compliance initiatives across all soft services: Contributing to the Hygiene Services Committee Cleaning Audit Team and overseeing hygiene standards.
Providing hygiene training for contractors.
Coordinating documentation and support for HIQA inspections.
Acting as the on-site contact for Environmental Health Officer (EHO) visits.
Applicants must demonstrate the criteria listed below, at the latest date of application, as relevant to the role: NFQ level 6 minimum in related field.
Satisfactory managerial experience which has included budget contract management within a health or social care/social services setting, as relevant to the role.
Experience of managing staff including recruitment and identification of training needs.
Experience of managing and working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members and other stakeholders.
Experience of delivering change and quality improvement initiatives across non-clinical specialist services including, but not limited to, Porter Services, Hygiene and Catering.
Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
