Part Time Clerical Officer
Location: Sports Surgery Clinic
Job type: Fixed Term (5 months)
Overview of role:
UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic is currently recruiting for a part-time Clerical Officer for a fixed-term contract lasting 5 months.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Drive quality and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
* Manage admissions of patients to InPatient Ward and Day Ward.
* Perform reception duties, answering all calls and queries.
* Ensure all electronic referrals are correctly entered into the system.
* Prepare charts for the following day.
* Maintain patient privacy in all activities.
* Create a culture of accountability, openness to change, respect, and teamwork.
* Develop and promote healthy working relationships.
* Demonstrate behaviors aligned with the values of the hospital.
* Contribute to a positive organizational culture and staff morale.
* Ensure incidents and near misses involving patients and staff are documented and reported according to clinic procedures.
* Set and monitor standards.
* Maintain flexibility and liaise with Theatre regarding schedule changes.
* Ensure letters are filed in charts.
* Inform Theatre staff of changes to theatre lists, such as additional cases or cancellations.
* Check charts before sending to wards.
Qualifications & Experience:
The successful candidate must be educated to Leaving Certificate standard.
Experience:
* At least 2 years of clerical experience.
* Experience working within an acute/clinical setting.
* Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
* Diplomatic, tactful, and able to build relationships.
* Team player with an open and flexible attitude.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Computer literate.
* Flexible to adapt to changing environments.
* Problem-solving skills.
* Good character.
