Our Digital Assets and Financial Markets (DAFM) group leverages intelligence and research to support new opportunities to drive profitable business growth and promote the next-generation enterprise operating model and client service solutions, focusing predominantly on digital assets. Within DAFM, product owners are responsible for execution and delivery of opportunities at all levels of maturity, from proof of concept to product.
We are seeking a candidate to develop new solutions using new technologies, gather and analyze information from external technology firms, and monitor market participants and how they develop and deliver new innovative solutions. Additional responsibilities include:
* Understanding the FinTech marketplace - innovations and trends in Financial Technologies.
* Understanding the expected outcomes of the innovation deliverable and monitoring the outcomes to ensure value for investment.
* Identifying new technology or individual firms that could provide new product opportunities for Northern Trust.
* Development of the business case for the PoC, MVP, or Product Development of the innovative solutions.
* Building a broad internal and external network of partners that can help deliver solutions.
* Understanding the reason for the innovative development and the benefits it will deliver for NT, these may be financial, reputational, and/or knowledge improvement.
* Management of the resources needed to deliver to the scope.
* Getting the best from small teams and working together with external partners to deliver to the requirements.
* Delivering programs of work for the broader DAFM team where you are acting more as Resource Manager than program owner.
* Ensuring that the owner is clear on the responsibilities and that you deliver to the agreed program needs.
* Informing the bank's strategic approach to technical innovation, investments, and developments.
* Identifying and framing new business opportunities.
* Acting as the innovation expert and participating in client and prospect discussions.
* Responsible for the legal and regulatory understanding of any new solution and ensuring full clarity prior to development.
The ideal candidate should have a fair amount of the following skills and experience:
* A broad understanding of new and external technologies.
* Wide-ranging views on ALL types of technology firms (not just FinTech).
* Desire and ability to look at and deliver new ways of meeting the needs - not just improving the old but delivering new ways to meet needs and problems.
* Project delivery expertise e.g. Prior experience in Program Management/Product Ownership/Business Analyst.
* Familiarity and experience with Agile/Waterfall methodology.
* Proven track record of delivering change programs successfully.
* Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
* Good communication skills; verbal, non-verbal, and written.
* Effective presentation skills.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Effective analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
* Proven ability to work constructively and resourcefully under pressure.
* Demonstrated ability to articulate why we should engage with certain external firms and the positive outcomes for Northern Trust.
