The Role
As an Accessibility Document Remediation Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing and delivering accessible solutions as part of the Digital Marketing & CX team.
We are looking for someone who will support leadership to drive compliance and delivery of accessible products and services across the enterprise. In this role, you will continue to progress skills learned and practiced as a designer and learn how to become a digital accessibility specialist. You will be trained to consult on specific accessibility requirements and the use of tools that teams can use to incorporate accessibility across the enterprise.
To be successful, you must show empathy towards people with disabilities, have a passion for helping to make products better for everyone, have a curious, inquisitive mind and self‑awareness with an interest in continuing to improve your people and technical skills and be able to share your knowledge and talent with team members and clients by providing training and mentoring.
Your responsibilities:
* Responsible for building and remediating documents including InDesign, PDFs, Word, PowerPoint etc.
* Responsible for accessibility testing documents to WCAG standards & attestation of documents.
* Screen reader testing and signing off on Quality checking.
* Point of contact for offshore teams to troubleshoot and relay solutions to accessibility issues.
* Accessibility support writing for Alt‑text, infographics and other components that require accessible explanations.
* Creating and checking transcripts and submitting requests for full descriptive transcripts, as needed.
* Will be the main point of contact for all ADA questions for the client.
* Understand how to fix ADA PDFs and provide guidance for designs.
* Consult and provide recommendations on system generated forms.
Special Working Conditions
Possibility of occasional shift to align with US hours or covering bank holidays.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
* Strong relevant experience working as a Production Designer or InDesign Specialist.
* Proficiency in the full Adobe Suite particularly InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro and Photoshop.
* Knowledge of Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines and specifications.
* Strong understanding of the WCAG.
* Desire to work in assistive technology and accessibility‑related software, including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Dragon NaturallySpeaking or other speech recognition software.
* Self‑motivated with a desire to improve experiences for people with disabilities.
* Advanced soft skills and ability to translate requirements of inclusive design and accessibility to both teams and leadership.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
* Strong understanding of accessibility standards such as WCAG, Section 508, and the European Accessibility Act.
* IAAP ADS, CPACC or equivalent certification an advantage but not necessary.
* Bachelor's degree in related field.
* Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
* Familiarity with design principles and tools.
