Summary:
The Controls Engineer will provide automation support for new and existing processes/equipment. The role is pivotal in ensuring long-term viability of manufacturing at the Ballina site, supporting the development and delivery of controls solutions to reduce manufacturing complexity. The position will liaise with Global Engineering (GE), Research and Development (R&D), and Quality Assurance (QA) to carry out its responsibilities effectively.
Responsibilities:
Project Support:
* Developing, tracking & communicating project plans for all control tasks in assigned projects.
* Equipment Qualification – support / lead qualification of new production equipment / processes and ensure compliance with quality standards through execution of protocols.
* Design & implementation of testing protocols for new machines, testing that vendor code and logic perform in line with User Requirement Specifications.
* Safety/Risk Assessments: ensure safety compliance of control hardware/software, support conduction and timely closeout of risk assessments.
Process Support:
* Provide technical support in the operation of manufacturing processes, specifically supporting control systems.
* Troubleshoot equipment issues during daily operations.
* Implement corrective and preventative measures for machine issues.
* Communicate issues and solutions effectively to technical staff.
* Out of hours support may sometimes be required.
Education Requirements:
* Primary degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
Experience:
2-5 years of relevant experience.
Technical Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledge and experience in:
* Industrial control systems
* HMI (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Windows-based solutions)
* Process control (temperature, pressure)
* Vision Systems, Servo Systems, Robotics
* Industrial Networks (Ethernet, EtherCAT, Profibus, RS485, etc)
* Industrial cyber security
* Experience in clean-room manufacturing
