Database Administrator
Monument Re requires a skilled and proactive Database Administrator to manage and maintain their SQL Server estate.
Key Responsibilities:
* Administer and maintain SQL Server databases across on-premises and Azure VM environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security;
* Manage SSIS & SSRS;
* PowerShell – knowledge of dbatools is preferred;
* Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, connectivity problems, and other technical challenges;
* Make independent decisions to address critical database issues and implement solutions effectively;
* Collaborate with other teams;
* Maintain documentation of the SQL Server estate;
* Proactively monitor database health, identify potential issues, and implement preventive measures;
* Have a basic understanding of Git;
* Stay updated on SQL Server best practices, Azure advancements, and emerging database technologies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA;
* Proven track record of managing a SQL Server estate, including backups, disaster recovery, and performance optimization;
* Experience working with SQL Server on Azure VMs;
* Familiarity with Azure cloud services beyond VMs, such as Azure SQL Database or Azure Data Factory;
* Experience with Agile or DevOps methodologies;
* Industry recognized qualifications advantageous;
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prioritize work efficiently and effectively;
* Contribution to the SQL Server community, such as blogging, publications, or public speaking, is a plus.
