Process Engineer - Automated Manufacturing (Day Role) Location: Waterford A leading high-volume manufacturing site in Waterford is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support one of the most advanced and highly automated production areas on site.
This is a day-based role (non-shift) and offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment focused on continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence.
You will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for automated production equipment, driving performance, reliability, and efficiency while working closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Key Responsibilities Act as SME for high-volume automated manufacturing equipment Diagnose and resolve day-to-day production and equipment issues Analyse production data to identify downtime drivers and improve uptime, yield, and cycle time Organise, optimise, and improve planned maintenance and calibration activities Evaluate machine performance, conduct root cause analysis, and specify spare parts Support capacity expansion and strategic engineering projects Provide technical training to operations and maintenance teams when required Lead by example in safety, quality, and compliance Develop and maintain work instructions and SOPs Write and execute engineering studies, validations, and protocols Requirements Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent 3-5 years' experience in a process or equipment engineering role within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device, pharma, or similar) Proven experience improving uptime and reliability on automated production lines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset Excellent communication and teamwork skills Lean / Six Sigma and/or Project Management certification is desirable Science-only backgrounds are not suitable for this role Site & Role Overview Modern manufacturing site with approximately 160 employees This role is based in the newest and most automated production area Site operates 24/7, but this role is day-based (non-shift) You will join a close-knit team of 4-5 engineers Benefits Annual performance bonus 25 days annual leave Employer pension contribution Local GP healthcare cover Skills: Process Engineering Manufacturing
