The Gallery wishes to recruit aFacilities Supervisorto coordinate the frontline facilities team and to ensure operational requirements are delivered to a high standard.Reporting to the Facilities Manager (or nominated deputy), the Facilities Supervisor will:Supervise the frontline facilities maintenance team in the GalleryAdhere to and implement the Facilities and Safety Management policy and proceduresCoordinate contractors working on site. This includes overseeing contractors who will provide authorised works documentation, install, inspect, repair, and maintain building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste managementConduct Fire Alarm Testing and maintain the Fire RegisterEnsure that all other Life safety Systems and maintain and compliance checks are conductedEnsure that buildings, plant and equipment are inspected and maintenance issues are promptly actioned and reported to managementManage the Annual Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) scheduleMaintain a safe and healthy work environment for Gallery visitors, staff and contractorsImmediately report all incidents to Operations managementMotivate staff and maintenance support team developmentAssign duties to the team and ensure that the roster is fully resourcedEnsure that the daily office administration for the team is completeProvide team briefings and training to staffEnsure staff are informed of and have access to information related to OperationsAdhere to and administer all of the Gallery's policies and proceduresEnsure that the team provides an excellent service to visitors and collaboration with Front of House, Health and Safety, Events and Security teams.Conduct other duties as requiredEnsure all Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) testing is conductedAssist the Assistant Facilities Manager, as requiredThe successful candidate will have:A Facilities Management qualification at level 6 or level 7 of the National Framework of Qualifications (or equivalent)Previous work experience in a Facilities Management role, with a track record of dealing with multiple disciplines, ensuring functionality, comfort, safety and efficiency.Proven experience at supervisor or similar role level is required.Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems, and best practice Fire & Safety and Life Safety Systems policies and proceduresGood supervision, team building and leadership skills, with a willingness to motivate and develop staffAn ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersSound problem solving, judgement and decision making skillsGood verbal and written communication skillsGood organisation, administration and time management skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlinesGood IT skills (Microsoft Office)A willingness to work independently and on own initiativeA positive, flexible and proactive attitude to workAn understanding of the Time Management System (TMS) is desirableA full clean driving licence is desirableConditions of employmentThis job description is a guide to broad areas of responsibility and accountability and should not be regarded as a comprehensive listing. The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway; orA citizen of the United Kingdom (UK); orA citizen of Switzerland, pursuant to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the free movement of persons; orA non-EEA citizen who has a Stamp 4 permission or a Stamp 5 permission.Please note: A 50 TEU permission, which serves as a replacement for Stamp 4EUFAM after Brexit, is considered equivalent to Stamp 4.To qualify candidates must be eligible by the date of any job offer.Known Consignor status:The Facilities Supervisor will be required to be Air Cargo security trained. In accordance, a pre-employment check is carried out on prospective new staff covering the preceding 5 years. This pre-employment check involves examination of any unexplained gaps of more than 28 days. For all new staff, written confirmation shall be obtained from employers or other sources capable of verifying the information provided by the person for the purpose of the background check. No prospective employee who is required to undergo Air Cargo security training will be offered a position unless any gap of 28 days or more has been satisfactorily accounted for.Job Details and Application InformationGrade and Salary:The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Tier 1 Band 1 pay scale €1,701.80 gross per fortnight as per the 1 August 2025 pay adjustments. The salary scale for this position is as follows:€1,701.80 €1,789.23 €1,866.88 €1,893.48 €1,935.07 €1,964.66 €1,997.74 €2,031.31 €2,065.04 €2,121.66 €2,191.68The starting salary will be at the first point on the scale, €1,701.80 gross per fortnight, or on a higher point of the scale, as appropriate to the successful candidate, if appointed from an existing public sector role (in accordance with Circular 08/2019).Candidates should note the National Gallery of Ireland complies with Department of Public Expenditure and Reform regulations and guidelines on Public Service pay and conditions of employment.Annual Leave:The successful candidate will be entitled to 24 days of annual leave pro rataSuperannuation:The successful candidate will be placed on the public sector pension scheme.Benefits:The Gallery provides staff the opportunity to participate in the tax saver and cycle to work schemes.Duration:PermanentWorking hours:Full time, 5 days a week - 35 hours per week (net of breaks) onsite. The successful candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends, as required.Gallery work environment:The Facilities Supervisor is required to work predominately indoors.
