Athlone Chamber of Commerce seeks a motivated Festival and Events Coordinator to promote and coordinate festivals across the region.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify new marketing and funding opportunities for festivals and events in the Athlone area and develop cost-effective marketing strategies.
* Lead community engagement initiatives.
* Work with new and existing external stakeholders to support the development and promotion of their festivals and events.
* Develop partnerships with organisations involved in hosting larger festivals and events, supporting volunteers by developing solutions for obstacles that can result in festivals/events not taking place.
* Create a year-round calendar of current festivals and events in the Athlone region and circulate it via tourism portals and websites.
* Provide advice and guidance on key technical issues such as logistics, events licencing, budgets, insurance, health and safety, and the execution of festivals and events before, during, and post event.
* Help local organisations minimise risks associated with festival and event management through advice, better management, and planning of events.
* Develop knowledge and ties with Local Government, Civil defence, Order of Malta, HSE, An Garda Siochana, the Defence Forces, and other appropriate stakeholders to introduce organisations to key support organisations when hosting larger events and festivals.
* Partner with all accommodation providers and vendors in the region to help with planning and capacity ahead of events.
* Champion sustainability initiatives in festivals and events on an ongoing basis.
* Be the go-to source of information for festival and events committees.
* Develop training workshops/sessions to ensure organisations understand the risks, opportunities, and rewards of hosting festivals and events.
The Ideal Candidate
The Festival and Events Coordinator is a self-motivated, solutions-focused, results-oriented individual with a passion for culture, tourism, and event management. They have excellent interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of the local area. They are skilled in hosting workshops with strong presentation skills.
