Dublin Central Mission is recruiting for a Full Time Healthcare Assistant who will work between different sites in Glenageary, Glasthule and Sandymount. This is a Full Time role so candidates must have authorisation to work full time in Ireland all year long. Candidates must also have completed QQI Level 5 in Healthcare.
Overview of the role
Working under the direction of the Independent Living Manager, the Healthcare Assistant will provide appropriate household and personal care support to residents in Ailt An Oir. Care will be provided in a domiciliary setting as part of a care package to support residents to continue living independently in their home. The successful candidate will also be involved in Activities of residents and service users.
Eligibility Criteria

o Healthcare QQI Level 5 or a comparable relevant qualification of at least QQI Level 5.
o Knowledge and experience of working in the elder care sector (Desirable).
o Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
o Computer skills and ability to produce the required administrative reports and documents as required.
o Excellent communication skills with a flexible and innovative attitude to the role.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities

o Attend to residents needs in their own home
o Carry out a range of care tasks for residents as indicated in their care plan and as directed by your manager. These tasks include personal care, light household care and social care such as: assisting residents to dress/undress, assist with feeding, assist with toileting and personal hygiene, prompting residents to take medication, preparing and cooking meals, householding cleaning tasks, making beds, shopping.
o Maintain written records of residents visited as required.
o Ensure that resident services are delivered by working within a flexible team rota and to be flexible as regards to the duties they undertake.
o Able to work on your own initiative and to take guidance from others when needed.
o Report any concerns about a resident to your line manager immediately.
o At all times to present a professional and caring image and to demonstrate behaviours reflective of Dublin Central Mission's ethos of Welcoming, Serving and Supporting.
o To adhere to resident confidentiality and GDPR guidelines.

o The Healthcare Assistant is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of themselves and others so far as is reasonably practicable.
o Be familiar and comply with the safety, health and welfare provisions as set out in the Safety Statement, safety regulations and prevailing safety legislation.
o Attend all mandatory Health & Safety Training and participate in fire drills and observe fire orders.
o Report all accidents/incidents/near misses within Ailt An Oir in line with Health and Safety Legislation.

o Complete training requirements to maintain competency and capability.
o Identify professional education and learning needs
o Take on other such duties as Management may require from time to time.
o Develop an understanding / knowledge of regulatory bodies and the role they play in elder care.
o Work as an active member of the team and attend staff meetings as required.
